What’s included in my season ticket?
With an annual East Midlands Railway season ticket, you can travel on selected routes at any time. Visit the East Midlands Railway website to find out more about network maps, timetables and more.
How do I get my season ticket?
We will email you when your card is ready for you to collect from East Midlands Railway.
What happens after the annual period is up and how do I renew?
Your season ticket will not be automatically renewed. You can renew your season ticket by submitting an enrolment form by the 1st of the month prior to renewal.
Eg. If you require a new season ticket starting 1 December, please submit an enrolment form by 1 November.
How do I pay for my season ticket?
You don't have to pay anything up front. NTU buy the season ticket for you, which you repay in 10 monthly instalments. The 10 monthly instalments will be deducted from your net pay, and for the 2 months when no deductions are made, your season ticket remains valid during this period.
Will the cost change?
We will notify you if your instalments are due to increase because of any price increase imposed by East Midlands Railway (EMR). The initial 10% discount you receive when you first purchase your annual season ticket will be reduced to a 5% discount, by EMR, at the time of renewal.
What should I do if I need to cancel my season ticket?
You must complete a benefit selection form if you wish to cancel your season ticket and we will arrange cancellation from the end of the month.
You must return your cancelled season ticket to the My Benefits Team on the 1st of the month, or the next working day if the 1st falls on a weekend or Bank Holiday.
If you choose to cancel your season ticket at the end of the 12-month travel period, no cancellation fee will be payable. If you cancel your card mid-year, EMR will charge a cancellation fee of £10, which will be deducted from your net pay. EMR will determine any money owed to you, or by you, from the date they receive your returned season ticket. We are unable to confirm balance amounts in advance due to this calculation being actioned by EMR.
Once we receive either a credit note or invoice from EMR, money owed by you will be deducted from your net pay, or money owed to you will be refunded to your net pay (or via BACS payment if you have already left). If it is not possible to deduct all money owed from your net pay you will receive an invoice for the outstanding amount, and refunds are only paid if the season ticket is valid for a further seven days following receipt by EMR.
Please contact MyBenefits@ntu.ac.uk or visit the EMR website for more information.
What happens if I leave NTU before the end of the 12-month period?
You must email us at MyBenefits@ntu.ac.uk and let us know if you wish to either:
- Cancel - please see above for details of this process. You can request for your season ticket to remain valid until your last day of employment.
- Keep your season ticket and continue to use it - we will refund or deduct any money owed to you, or by you, from your final net pay. If it is not possible to deduct all owed money you will receive an invoice for any amount outstanding.
We need to know your decision before the 10th day of the month in which you are leaving NTU. If we do not hear from you by this date any money you owe will be deducted from your net pay. If it is not possible to deduct all money owed from your net pay you will receive an invoice for the outstanding amount.
What happens if I lose or damage my season ticket?
You must contact EMR immediately if your card is lost or stolen on 0345 712 5678 and a replacement season ticket will be issued at a charge of £10, payable by you. If your card is lost or stolen again, EMR will not issue a further replacement and you will need to purchase a new season ticket.
Visit the EMR website for more information. If you have any questions about buying or cancelling your card, please contact us at MyBenefits@ntu.ac.uk.
